Hi, I'm Rachel Edelman for About.com Food. Today I'm going to show you how to make a cheese omelet.Ingredients for a Cheese Omelet
For this recipe you will need:- 4 eggs
- 1/3 cup low-fat milk
- 1 teaspoon butter
- your favorite grated cheese
Mix the Eggs and Milk
First put some butter or oil in a small pan, and heat it at low to medium temperature. While the pan heats, crack four eggs into bowl. Make sure to check to be sure there are no pieces of shell.Next, add the milk to the eggs. Mix well with a whisk or a fork.
Cook the Eggs
Now, pour the egg mixture into the hot pan. As the eggs set, use a spatula to push the sides of the solid omelet into the middle. This helps get the liquid part of the egg to the bottom of the pan to cook.It is almost done when there's just a very little bit of liquid on the top of the eggs.
Add Cheese to the Eggs
Finally, sprinkle the cheese one side of the eggs in a half circle. The omelet is done when there is no liquid is left and the eggs are solid. Run a spatula around the sides of the pan to be sure that the eggs are not stuck. The heat from the eggs will melt the cheese and help cook the remaining egg.
Serve the Omelet
Lift the cheesy side of omelet fold it over with the spatula. Slide and gently place the omelet onto plate. Season with salt and pepper. You can add a lot of your own touches to this basic cheese omelet recipe. Add your favorite meats or vegetables to make a variety of omelets.
