Transcript:7 Layer DipHi, I'm Stephanie Gallagher for About.com, and today, we're making Mexican 7 layer dip.
Ingredients for 7 Layer DipFor this recipe, you will need:
- 1 16 oz. can of refried beans
- 2 cups of prepared guacamole
- 2 cups of sour cream
- 1-1/2 Tbsp. of chili powder
- 2 tsp. of cumin
- 2 cups of shredded Mexican cheese blend
- 1 cup of seeded, diced tomatoes
- 1/2 cup of sliced black olives
- 1/2 cup sliced green onions
Spread the Refried Beans for the First LayerStart by spreading the refried beans in a deep-dish pie pan or a shallow 1-1/2 to 2-quart casserole dish. A lot of people will use a 9 x 13 pan for this dip.
Make sure the beans cover the bottom of the dish completely in a nice, even layer. This is the first layer of your 7 layer dip.
Guacamole is the Second LayerTop the beans with the prepared guacamole, again spreading in an even layer over the black beans. Make sure to cover the black beans completely with the guacamole layer.
Add Seasoned Sour CreamPlace the sour cream in a mixing bowl. Add the chili powder and cumin, and mix well. Pour the sour cream mixture over the guacamole layer, spreading it to form the third layer of your Mexican 7 layer dip.
Add Cheese, Tomatoes, Olives, and OnionsSprinkle the shredded cheese on top of the sour cream layer, and this becomes the fourth layer of your 7 layer dip . Then top with the diced tomatoes, the sliced black olives, and add your final layer, which is the sliced green onions.
