Hi, My name is Matt Gavenda for About.com. Today we're going to talk about - "What is Google Adsense?"
What is Google AdSense?
Google Adsense is a way that Google shares advertisement revenue with its users. It is used by many people on a number of websites. The way they do this is they implement advertising that Google sets up for them. It's a way to monetize your website when you might not have that option otherwise.
How Google AdSense Works
You have to be approved for it by going through Google's review process. You have to have at least one website that is content-rich. Google is really strict about rules. Any abuse of their rules can get you banned for life. The main concept of using Google Adsense on your site is that you're able to make some money from people viewing the advertisements on your site and clicking those ads. The more ads that people click, the more money you make.
After a while Google will start to mold the advertisements around what your users want to see and what you want to see. This makes the odds of you making money all the more. Google restricts the amount of ads that you have on your site to three per page. This is not necessarily a bad thing. A lot of people include additional ads on their website and it can turn into a cluttered mess.
Adsense is not a sure-fire way to make money, although some people think that it is. Don't expect Google Adsense to make you a ton of money right off the bat. Build up your audience, and from there you might be able to make some good money with Google Adsense.
