Hi! I am Michelle, a Licensed Aesthetician, here today to give you some tips and techniques for waxing at home.

Tips for How to Wax at Home

The most important part to waxing at home is following the kit directions. Whatever the instructions say at home, follow those to the tee. You're going to place the wax with the lid off in the microwave.

The second step you're going to want to do is to clean the area. This is very important, if you're doing your face like we are today, you're going to want to make sure to remove any makeup from the area. Removing the makeup from the area will allow the wax to adhere closer to the hair and remove it. As you will most likely be doing this on yourself, you can take the wax after it is done with the microwave and apply a skin test right here on your forearm. This will allow you to make sure you do not burn your face or any other area that you're waxing. The wax needs to be hot, but not to an uncomfortable degree.

After you've cleaned the area, make sure to pat the area gently dry. You're going to want to take your tongue depressor or stick and mix the wax with it. Once you get a sufficient amount on the stick, you want to twirl it around, so you don't have any dripping. This will all allow it to cool off, so it does not burn your skin. Once you have your wax ready, you want to pull the skin tightly and apply to the wanted area. Before you get the wax ready, you're going to want to look at your brows and be prepared and ready for the shape and type you want.
