Hello! My name is Selyna Parker. I am an Aesthetician and Eyebrow Artist here at Norris of Houston Salon & Day Spa, and today we are going to talk about how to shape your eyebrows.

Learn How to Shape Eyebrows

The tools you are going to need to shape your eyebrows are: slanted stainless steel tweezers, small eyebrow scissors, an eyebrow pencil or eyeliner to show your guidelines to where to start, arch, and end your brow, so that you can tweeze in between those lines, and an eyebrow brush.

Tips for How to Shape Eyebrows

First we are going to determine where your eyebrows start. So you are going to take your eyebrow pencil or eyeliner and you are going to measure from the corner of your nose to the corner of your eye up, that is where your eyebrow will begin, and you are going to draw a line, like so.From that line you are going to move out toward the end of your brow to where your eyebrow pencil goes through your eye, meets the iris, and that's where your arch will start. So you are going to draw the line there. Then you are going to continue to move down the eyebrow to determine where the eyebrow should end, from the corner of the eye out.

Shaping Eyebrows

Now that we have determined where your eyebrows start, arch, and finish, we are going to go ahead and trim the eyebrow. You want to trim the eyebrow first as to not over tweeze the eyebrow, because sometimes the eyebrow hairs just need to be trimmed to fit into the place. So let's take the eyebrow brush, and basically we are going to brush the eyebrow, hairs up, and trim anything that is above that eyebrow line. You don't want to over trim because that can cause eyebrow hairs to stand straight up.

Now we are going to brush the eyebrows down and trim any hairs that are sticking below the eyebrow. You want to kind of brush the eyebrow back in line. Now we are going to tweeze. You want to hold the skin taut and you want to basically tweeze everything from this line toward the center. So we are going to start tweezing the arch. Hold the skin taut, and we are going to tweeze these excess hairs. Always follow straight lines. You want a smooth line throughout the brow. You are going to want to tweeze anything below that line and just remove this excess hair. You want to make sure that you have a nice line here at the start of your eyebrow and you definitely want to give the brow a definite line at the top. And that's how to shape an eyebrow.
