Hi, my name is Leon Williams Jr. and we are located here at 5 Star Artistic Sports and Entertainment Academy located in East Rockaway, NY and we're here for About.com and Megan here and I are going to demonstrate bent knee stretches for a front split.
Prepare for a Front Split with a Knees Bent Stretch
To demonstrate this stretch, what you want to do is you'd like the gymnast to kneel down into a lunge position assuring that the toes are in front of the knee and you're going to have the gymnast lunge forward and as the gymnast is lunging forward you're going to stretch the back leg up towards the back of the head, stretching the back quadricep just slightly so that way this better prepares for the front split.
Safety Tips for the Knees Bent Stretch
One safety tip regarding this stretch is to assure that when lifting the leg towards the back of the head that you slowly stretch the leg and not push too rapidly or too forcefully.
