Hi I am, Michele Jaco and today for About.com I'm going to give you an overview of several Theme Park Rides in Las Vegas.
Theme Park Rides in Las Vegas
Not all the action in Vegas is in a casino, there are several Themed Park Rides that will thrill you almost as much as a Royal Flush!
Roller Coasters in Las Vegas
First let's start with the Roller Coaster at New York-New York. Located across the street from the MGM and Excaliber, New York-New York is one of the most recognizable theme casinos in Vegas. The Roller Coaster will lift you up 203 feet, drop you down 144 feet and leave you coasting at 67 mph. You must be 54” tall to ride and tickets start around $14.
Next, let's go to the Adventuredome at Circus Circus. Located on the northern part of the strip, this fun complex has themed rides like the Canyon Blaster, a 55 mile per hour roller coaster that takes you on the world's only indoor double-loop, double-corkscrew track. You must be 48” tall to ride and a daily pass for the coaster, and all of the other rides is about $26.95. Admission to the dome is free.
More Theme Park Rides in Las Vegas
Finally let's move to the most northern end of the strip at the world famous Stratosphere. This iconic Vegas landmark has 4 themed rides that you won't want to miss – Sky Jump, Insanity, X-Scream and Big Shot. All are located at the top of the tower, 1,149 feet above the strip and the cost is approximately $16 to reach the summit.
Once at the top you'll find SkyJump, a theme ride that provides the highest controlled free fall in the world. That's right, you jump off the top of the Stratosphere and fall 108 stories. This thrilling adventure starts at about $110 and there's a maximum weight restriction of 270 pounds.
Other Theme Park Rides in Las Vegas
Insanity is a mechanical arm that extends out 64 feet over the edge of the Stratosphere Tower at a height of over 900 feet. This theme ride will spin you and several other passengers in the open air at speeds of up to three 'G's. You must be 54” tall and it costs about $12.
X-Scream resembles a massive teeter-totter and it propels you and several other riders headfirst, 27 feet over the edge of the Stratosphere. You must be 54” tall and the cost is about $12.
And finally Big Shot launches you 160 feet in the air at 45 miles per hour up the Tower's mast to a height of 1,081 feet and down again, attaining four 'G's of force on the way up, and a feel of negative 'G's on the way down. You must be 48” tall to ride and the cost is about $13.
Here's a tip: to save some money purchase a Stratosphere value package that incorporates both the trip to the top and the rides.
