Hi, JJ Johnson here, to show you how to make Chantilly Cream on

What Is Chantilly Cream?

You might think that this is just whipped cream. But it is something much more.

It was first created for a dinner party held at the Chateau de Chantilly for King Louis the fourteenth of France by chef Francois Vatel.

Originally it was whipped cream with sugar and vanilla added. The version I am making has a little something extra. And believe me, whoever you serve this to will love it.

Chantilly Cream Ingredients

First chill a bowl and beaters until very cold. Then to make about a quart of whipped cream you will combine:
  • 1-1/2 cups of heavy cream
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 teaspoon brandy – in this case cognac
  • 1 teaspoon Grand Marnier

Beat Ingredients Together

You beat these ingredients with the electric blender on medium for about thirty seconds to a minute. Then add the optional 3 tablespoons of sour cream and pour in a quarter cup of sugar while still beating on medium. You can use any type of white sugar, but I prefer granulated.

Turn the mixer up to high and Beat until soft peaks form.

DO NOT OVERBEAT. If you do it will become grainy and more like butter than whipped cream.

Store in Refrigerator

You can store this for several hours in the refrigerator covered with plastic wrap, so it doesn’t absorb other flavors hanging out in the fridge. With time water may separate and sink to the bottom – if that happens just lightly whisk it up before serving. That’s it!
