Hello I'm Gina Miller and today for about.com we'll visit several of the most beautiful beaches in Texas.

Basics About Texas Beaches

Texas is home to 367 miles of shoreline. The most beautiful beaches are located in and around South Padre Island, Padre Island which includes an 18 mile stretch known as Mustang Island and Galveston.

Best Texas Beaches

First the best known is South Padre Island -- a very popular spot and the number one beach during Spring Break.

In the Corpus Christi area you'll also find several beaches such as Padre Island National Seashore located on the south end of 100 mile long Padre Island. Now this is not to be confused with South Padre Island. Padre Island is north of South Padre Island and Padre Island National Seashore is a 70 mile beach area that has white sand dunes and green blue waters.

Now on the north end of Padre Island is an 18 mile stretch known as Mustang Island. It stretches from Corpus Christi to Port Aransas, Texas. Mustang Island is a beautiful and peaceful haven, plus a State park. It's a great place to hike, camp, surf, swim and fish. There is also a free Ferry for easy access to the Island.

More Beautiful Texas Beaches

Next is Port Aransas, Tx, located at the North end of Mustang Island. This is a beautiful spot with clear water and nice clean beaches and is also a great place to go deep sea fishing.

Finally, there's the 32 mile shoreline of Galveston Island Texas.

The Seawall built high above the beach and shoreline, is a popular tourist area, with lots of restaurants and fun filled bars. The East end of Galveston is much more serene and waters are clean, with a beautiful white fluffy sandy shoreline for walking or sunbathing. There are several high rise condos right on the beach. This area is protected by the Galveston Police and there are Lifeguard stations.

The far west end of the Galveston coastline is home to many beautiful million dollar beach homes. These communities have public and private beach access areas and all the beaches are clean, have police patrol and lifeguard stations. Many of the beautiful homes on the West Beach of Galveston, are available for renting year round.
