Transcript:How to Make Torrijas
Hey guys, Greyson Ferguson here with About.com. Today we are going to make Torrijas.Ingredients for the Torrijas
To begin, you'll need:- 4 cups of milk
- olive oil
- honey
- 16 oz sugar
- 8 eggs
- your favorite bread
Make the Torrijas
Mix the milk and sugar together. Essentialy you are making a Spanish version of French toast with the mixture. The sugar makes this a sweeter version of popular breakfast food. Beat the eggs in a separate dish, then dip the bread into the milk and sugar mixture. Once completely coated, dip the bread now into the beaten eggs.Pour a small amount of oil into a pan set over medium heat. Once the oil begins to sizzle set one piece of the bread onto the pan. After a minute, flip the bread. Once another minute has passed remove the bread and repeat the process with the rest. You want to obtain a golden brown color while cooking.
After two slices or so pour more olive oil into the pan, otherwise you are going to burn the bread. Serve the bread with honey, or if you desire, syrup or jam.
