Hi. I’m Heidi Dehncke-Fisher, a video journalist with About.com. We’re going to find out just how good those burgers are at The Burger Joint at the Le Parker Meridien.

The Burger Joint is in the Le Parker Meridien Hotel in Midtown New York City

Hidden in the midst of New York traffic and noise is the hotel Le Parker Meridien. Those in the know know that this gem houses one of the best hamburger joints in the city. Tucked away in a cave like space, The Burger Joint opened in October of 2003 and sells nearly one thousand burgers a day. I wanted to know what made these luscious meat patties so delectable. And what was the inspiration.

Good Beef is the Main Ingredient for The Burger Joint

"The Burger Joint came about because we were looking for something special that really appealed to both ourselves and what we thought the public would like. People thought we were a bit nuts, building a burger joint in the middle of the Le Parker Meridien. But we really thought that there’s too much choice out there, generally, in the world, and people go into places with 52,000 different things on the menu. And, often times, you really just want something that is great and easy to choose and it’s something that everybody likes," Stephen Pipe, Managing Director and VP at Le Parker Meridien.

If you ask for the works expect to get a mix of yellow and white cheddar, lettuce, tomato, pickles, onions, ketchup, mustard and mayo. You’d think a good burger in a city like New York would be a dime a dozen.

"The simplicity of our burgers is what makes it great. It’s really really good meat. And, it’s cooked well. It’s that simple. You don’t need to put fancy ingredients in it, mix 15 kinds of beef. Too many people try too hard to make something good, when, in fact, if you do it basic and very well it comes out fabulous and that's what we attempt to do and have been pretty successful over these nearly nine years."

The Burger Joint is a Cash Only Restaurant

The taste is reminiscent of tasty summer family cook outs, comforting and delicious. But don’t expect to pay for these with credit. The burger joint is cash only and there’s few places you can spend around seven dollars and taste a piece of beef heaven.
