Hi golfers, I'm Todd Kolb with About.com. I'd like to welcome you to the Think LA's 2011 Charity Golf Day. I'll be providing you with a couple tips to help you win the About.com putting challenge. For more information about over 900 topics, be sure to visit About.com.
Create a 3-Step System to Improve Stroke Rhythm
One of the keys to good putting is good distance control, or what we call rolling the ball at the right speed in kind of golf terms. So, what I want to share with you here golfers is a nice tip that will help you out with your rhythm.
Now what we are going to do here is create a rhythm that's going to incorporate looking at the hole, looking at the ball, a back swing and an impact. Now I like to use a count of 1, 2, and 3.
So let's walk through it. I get set up, I look at the hole, that would be 1, I look at the ball that would be 2, and would be my backswing and then 3 would be impact. Now when I do that, my rhythm is going to be good.
Tips for Using the 3-Step System to Improve Stroke Rhythm
So let me kind of go through it this time in regular speed, regular motion. I get set up, 1, 2 and 3. And when I add the count to that, I add a nice consistent rhythm.
Now I'm using numbers and phrases, but you could use anything. You could use a song, you could use tick tock, it doesn't matter, but if you want to be a good putter, you have to have good distance control or good speed control and putting some rhythm to your stroke will certainly help you do that.
