Transcript:Japan Travel Quick Tip: Snow Monkeys
Hello, my name is Megumi Eda for About.com. Today, I'm going to talk about the snow monkeys of jigokudani onsen in Nagano, Japan.
Where to Find the Snow Monkeys
The Japanese Macaque is a monkey that is native to Northern Japan. Jigokudani Onsen is located in the mountains in the North of Nagano Province. To get to the monkeys you have to walk 30-40 minutes from the roadside.
How Snow Monkeys Interact
Jigokudani Onsen is a unique mountain hot spring, where you can go see wild monkeys bathing in the waters. Most of the time the monkeys ignore us watching them. The park is open all year round, but the bathing monkeys are particularly photogenic when the area is covered in snow.
And that's a little information about the snow monkeys of Jigokudani. To learn more please visit About.com.
