Transcript:Tips for Visiting Cap D'Agde

If you're a naturist and dream of sun and sand with about 40,000 other like-minded people, then Cap D'Agde in southern France is the place for you.

Cap D'Agde is a naturist resort that has everything a naturist could want all within one village. Here's all you need to know about going au naturale in this picturesque locale.

How to Get to Cap D'Agde

Cap D'Agde can be reached by flying into Montpellier and taking the train from the Agde station. However, you will need to take a taxi from the airport to the station. You can also reach Cap D'Agde by flying into nearby Beziers-Agde-Vias Airport. From there, it's just a short taxi or bus ride away.

Rental cars are available and a great aid in doing any clothed sightseeing outside the Cap D'Agde naturist village. The village is gated, and there is a charge to enter. Be sure to have cash in the form of Euros ready since the entry fee is relatively small and credit cards aren't accepted.

When to Go And Where to Stay at Cap D'Agde

The best time to streak over to Cap D'Agde is during June, July, and August -- when it's warm, duh -- although the season runs from late March through early October. The village and beaches will be crowded, but the weather during those months will most likely be ideal. The other months of the season may be a bit chilly for a naturist experience.

In terms of lodging, one of the most readily available at Cap D'Agde is an apartment. Prices are generally fairly reasonable, but apartments book up quickly and far in advance, so make your reservations early. Camping is also a popular choice, and there are excellent facilities available.

Hotel EVE is the only hotel in the village. The accommodations are basic, and the property seems geared toward couples and singles more than families. Some area accommodations provide an entrance card for the village, so check ahead of time to save a few Euros.

Activities and Attractions in Cap D'Agde

While the beach and the naturalist ambience is the main draw, there are plenty of things to do in Cap D'Agde with your clothes on. These activities include shopping, dining, and plenty of nightlife.

The nightlife, in particular, is a big part of any visit to Cap D'Agde. There are half a dozen clubs with admission usually around $50 per person. Admission may or may not include food or drink. However, there are some clubs that are BYOB (that's bring your own bawh-tel), and they will even write your name on it and keep it on premises for you for up to a week.

Etiquette Guidelines for Visiting Cap D'Agde

Despite seeming like a naturalist spot would be a free-for all, it's not. When you visit Cap D'Agde, it's important to know the rules and proper etiquette. Nudity is obligatory within the village and on the beach, weather permitting, of course. It's a good idea to always bring a towel with you to sit on, and some accommodations include them as a complimentary amenity.

While nudity is de rigueur, it is standard etiquette to dress for dinner. Photography is not allowed except for family members who may be taking pictures of one another. And, any lewd or pornographic behavior is strictly prohibited.

And voila! That’s Cap D'Agde in all its glory. Once you visit, it's easy to see why it's considered one of the best naturist destinations in the world. I do, however, always wonder about the issue of pockets. I'm Jonathon Stewart with About.com.
