Public holidays in Canada are set at the national level countrywide as well as by each of the 10 provinces and three territories. The Canadian public holidays comprise all annual national holidays where banks, government offices, schools and businesses are closed.Canadian Holidays in the Beginning of the Year
After New Year's Day on January 1st, the next public holiday in Canada is Family Day, the third Monday of February. Good Friday is the next public holiday, followed by Easter Monday. Schools and government offices are closed on Easter Monday but many businesses and banks remain open.Summertime Canadian Holidays
The Monday before May 25th is Victoria Day marked as a public holiday in Canada. Canada Day is celebrated on July 1st. The first Monday of August is the August Civic Holiday, celebrated by most provinces.Canadian Holidays in Fall and Winter
Labor Day is observed on the first Monday of September and Thanksgiving Day is observed on the second Monday of October. Remembrance Day is observed on November 11 every year. Banks and government offices remain closed on Remembrance Day, but most schools and businesses remain open.Christmas Day is on December 25th and Boxing Day on December 26th are also public holidays.
