Transcript:Homemade Tortilla Chips and NachosHi, I'm Kristina Keller for About.Com Food and today I'm going to show you how to make delicious and healthy nachos.
Nachos IngredientsThe ingredients you will need for this recipe include:
- corn chips
- 1 can drained black beans
- 1 cup chopped red onion
- 1 can of mexicorn
- 1/2 can of green chilies
- chicken strips
- 1/2 jar of salsa
- 1 cup of cheese
Make Your Own Tortilla ChipsYou start by placing corn chips on a serving platter. Now these corn chips are made from corn wraps and they are so easy to make. Cut a stack of corn wraps into triangles, place them on a cookie sheet lined with foil and bake them in a 350 degree oven for about 15 minutes or until they turn golden brown.
Here is an easy chip tip: If you want, you can spray the chips with cooking spray and sprinkle with them with salt before they go into the oven.
These chips are so easy to make and best of all you can save a batch for another time. Just store the extras in an airtight food storage bag and they should last for a couple of weeks. These are also great warmed up in the microwave.
Prepare the Gluten-Free NachosAdd 1 can of rinsed and drained black beans over the chips. Next add 1 cup of chopped up red onion. Then you are going to add 1 can of mexicorn. And a 1/2 can of green chilies. Add some chicken strips. Now you can buy these chicken strips at your grocery store pre-cooked or you can grill your own however you like. If you don't like chicken you can also use strips of steak, ground beef or make these nachos vegetarian.
And now you are going to add a 1/2 of jar of salsa of your preference. Sprinkle with 1 cup of grated cheese and these nachos are ready to go in a preheated 350 degree oven for about 10 minutes or until the cheese is melted.
The cheese is melted and I'm ready to dig in. Thanks for watching. To learn more, visit us on the Web at food.about.com.
