Transcript:How To Pick Garden PeppersHi, I am Ben Kurtzman for About.com Home and Garden, and today I am going to teach you how to pick peppers.
When to Pick Garden PeppersAt Riverland Farm in Sunderland, Massachusetts, late August, which it is right now, is a great time to pick peppers. If the pepper is seventy-five percent red, go ahead and pick it. It will continue to gain color and ripen off of the vine.
Pick the Pepper off the VineYou will notice there are a number of joints on the stem of the pepper, so you will have to be careful not to break the plant when you are picking. Grab the pepper with two hands and gently twist. It should come easily off of the plant. Using this method, you will be well on your way to picking a pack of perfect peppers.
