Hi! I'm Jennifer DeCristofano for About.com Home.Wood furniture can really add warmth to the home. However, over time the finish on these pieces of furniture may start to look dull or show light scratches allowing the finish to lose its luster. So today I'm going to show you how to polish up those wood pieces in your home so that the richness and fullness of the finish shines again.
Tools Needed to Polish Wood
For this task, you will need:- 2 soft polishing clothes and
- a bottle of wood furniture polishing spray
Making Homemade Polish
You may also choose to make your own polish by combining:- 1-cup of olive oil with
- a 1/2 cup of lemon juice
Begin Spreading the Polish
Next, apply a small portion of the polish to your cleaning cloth. Evenly spread the polish over the furniture and remember to always polish wood surface by rubbing in the direction of the grain of the wood.Buff the Furniture
Finally, with your other clean cloth, buff and polish the surface of the furniture until the surface of the finish is dry. Repeat this process until the entire piece of furniture is polished and you are satisfied with the results.Wow! That looks great! Thank you for watching.
