Hi! I'm Debbie Anderson for About.com! Wood furniture can slowly loose its luster over time if it isn't cleaned properly on a regular basis. So today, I'm going to show you how to properly clean wood furniture in just a few easy steps! What You Need to Clean Wood Furniture
For this task, you will need soft cleaning cloths, a clean sponge, a bottle of wood polish, a spray bottle, olive oil, lemon juice, and measuring cups.Begin by Dusting the Wood Furniture
First, gently wipe away any dust on the wood furniture with a dry clean soft cloth on a weekly basis to remove any dust buildup on the furniture.Wipe Furniture with a Clean Cloth
Next, remove smudges, fingerprints, and small caked on dirt by gently wiping a soft clean lightly dampened sponge across the surface of the wood furniture while wiping the sponge in the direction of the grain of the wood until the blemishes on the wood furniture have been removed.Polish Your Wood Furniture
Finally, polish the wood furniture piece by making either a homemade wood furniture polishing solution that is made of 2 parts olive oil to 1 part lemon juice and is mixed together in a spray bottle, or by using a commercially available pre-mixed wood furniture polishing solution. To polish the finish on the wood furniture, shake the spray bottle thoroughly and apply a small amount of polishing solution on a soft clean cloth.
Next, evenly applying the polish to the wood piece of furniture while spreading the polish over the furniture piece in the same direction as the grain of the wood.
Then, use a clean dry cloth to buff the finish of the wood furniture until it looks like new again!
