Hi, I am Ibn for About.com and today I am going to show you how to sell something on Ebay.

Sign Into Your eBay Account to Sell Items on eBay

Go to www.ebay.com. Click on register in the upper left hand corner and fill in all the blanks. If you already have an account, then click "Sign In." Go to the upper right hand corner and hover your mouse over "Sell," then click "Sell an Item."

You will come to the seller's page. Click the green "List Your Item" button. Enter keywords that describe your item. Click on the item that matches the item you are selling. If eBay knows your item, it will automatically add your product details and categories. If you need to change your category, click "Change Category."

Create Item Descriptions to Sell Items on eBay

eBay automatically gives your item a description. You can use or remove this by checking or un-checking the "Include the following product information in your listing." eBay will automatically give your item a title. If you want to change it, click on the box and type your custom title.

Next, add the condition of your item, if it is new, used, etc. Next, we have item specifics. This is where you add more specific details about your item. You don't have to do anything here if you do not want to, or if none of these apply to your item. You automatically get a stock photo. If you want to remove this image click the "Trash" button and click "Add Pictures" above. The first picture is free, every picture after that costs an extra 10 cents.

Next, add your description. This is where you can put any and everything about your item. eBay has a nice text editor so you can put more important things in bold, underlined or different colors.

Set the Price to Sell Items on eBay

You can enter your custom price by typing it in the blank and/or a "Buy it Now" price. This is where they can buy your item for full price without bidding. You can change the reserve of your item by clicking "Change" so it doesn't sell for less than what you want.

Add the quantity and duration of your item by clicking the drop down box. You can choose to start your listing immediately or set a specific date and time. Next, decide how you would like to be paid. You can get paid through Paypal or you can click on the "Add or Remove" options and get paid by credit card, Moneybookers, Paymate, or Propay.

Enter Shipping Details to Sell Items on eBay

Enter your shipping details and click the option that describes your shipping abilities. Next, choose your shipping service. Enter your shipping price, or you can choose free shipping. Choose your handling time, where you have anywhere from one to 31 days to deliver.

Next, you can click on the blue "Buyer Requirements" to block users from bidding on your item. And click on the blue "Change" to add your return policy. Add any additional instructions your buyer may need.

At the bottom you will see your total fee for listing your item. If you are okay with this total and your listing information, then click continue. You should come to this page. You can add extra features to make your listing stand out. Scroll down to the bottom of the page click list your item. Your item is listed.
