Transcript:5 Great Flowers for a Summer Wedding
Hi, I'm John Grady with Flora, by John Grady Burns, for About.com. Today, we will discuss five great flowers for a summer wedding.
Summer Wedding Flowers: Dahlia
The first flower that I'd like to start with is going to be a dahlia. And the dahlia represents, "I'm happy you love me." And so I'm going to take my larger blooms, and I'm going to work them loosely in my hand, and then I'm going to move on to my next flower which is going to be the Gerber daisy.
Summer Wedding Flowers: Gerber Daisy
The Gerber daisy represents innocence. I'm working with a bright, colorful array of flowers as this is for a summer wedding, and I think the abundance of color throughout the garden helps us choose these bright, fun colors.
Summer Wedding Flowers: Celosia
So, I've worked with the dahlias, the Gerbers, and now I'm going to pull in the celosia. The celosia stands for burning love. I love bringing in this deep, coral orange. It pulls out the center of the Gerber daisy which has some orange in it as well.
Summer Wedding Flowers: Delphinium
The next flower I'm going to work with is delphinium. The delphinium represents open heart. So, I'm going to put in some blue, and open the heart to the bouquet. Alright, so we got some light, airy, blue delphinium.
Summer Wedding Flowers: Caspia
So, the last one I'm going to add is the caspia. Caspia is a filler flower. Even though the delphinium creates a light, loose, flower feel, the caspia will add even a nicer softness to this, and caspia represents consistency.
You can see how wonderful these colors contrast with each other. It's just bright. It's cheery. It evokes, to me, a great feeling of summertime. This bouquet could easily say "through the innocence, your consistent love, through your burning heart, makes me happy that you love me."
