Transcript:How to Make Crab CakesHi, I am Gina Miller with About.com Food. Today we’re going to make crab cakes. Crab cakes are great as an appetizer or a main course meal. I think you are really going to enjoy this recipe.
Ingredients for Crab CakesWhen making crab cakes you need to use the finest crab meat you can find. You can pick white lump crab meat or crab meat from the claws. To make the Crab Cakes you will need:
- 1 lb of lump crab meat ( Serves 2-4 people)
- 1 egg beaten
- 1/3 cup breadcrumbs
- 1 tablespoon mayonnaise
- 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
- 1/2 teaspoon seafood seasonings (or Creole seasoning)
- 1/4 cup chopped green onion
Form Crab Cakes with IngredientsMix all ingredients together. In a frying pan, place 1/3 cup of canola oil, and preheat to 370 degree temperature. Form the crab meat mixture into round shape crab cakes. (Approx. 2 inches in diameter, 1/3 of inch thick.)
Fry the Crab Cakes in OilFry crab cakes for 5 minutes on both sides - til brown on both sides. Serve with a lemon wedge and your favorite tartar sauce or red cocktail sauce.
Crab Cakes are so delicious, and what you mostly want to taste is the crab. Be very careful not to add too many breadcrumbs. Yum, the crab cakes are delicious. Thanks for watching, and for more information visit us on the web at About.com.
