Feng Shui in the Bathroom

with Rodika Tchi, MSc

In feng shui, bathrooms have a reputation for being a challenge because they drain energy. But that doesn't mean they shouldn't have good feng shui.

Hi, I'm Rodika Tchi for About.com Home and Garden. Bathrooms have a bad reputation in feng shui and are considered a challenge.

Bathrooms Drain Energy

The reason behind this reputation is the fact that bathrooms stand to drain energy, as well as easily accumulate low vibrations that can later spread throughout your home.

However, there is no reason why you shouldn't enjoy good feng shui in your bathroom. All you need are some good feng shui tips and a little bit of effort.

Keep the Toilet Lid and Door Closed

Tip number one is to always leave the toilet lid and bathroom door closed. This will keep the energy from draining as well as keep the bathroom energy from spreading to other areas.

The best feng shui colors to paint a bathroom are fresh white, gentle gray, or aqua blue colors.

Introduce Quality Air Into the Bathroom

Good energy cannot exist without good quality air. If you're lucky to have a window, keep your window open most of the time for clean and fresh air. If you do not have a window, have a good ventilation system.

A good way to improve the air quality in your space is to use essential oils. You can use an electric diffuser or a candle one.

Display Soothing Items

Display images and items that have a soothing, relaxing energy. We have the word "spa" that suddenly sends a relaxing message. We have little findings from nature, little soaps in very cute shapes.

The big jar contains baking soda, and the other big jar contains sea salt. And you know a bath with sea salts and baking soda is one of the most energizing baths for you.

Have Different Levels of Lighting

Be sure to have different levels of lighting in your bathroom. If you cannot have different levels of lighting, install a dimmer switch. Of course, candles are a wonderful feng shui lighting option.
