Transcript: How to Make a Folded Towel Elephant

Hey guys - Jonathon Stewart here for About.com with today's 90 second quick tip. When it comes to bath time fun, there's nothing that beats the old standby, rubber ducky. After all, he's the one. But give it a shot, and maybe, just maybe, you'll find yourself fond of the folded towel elephant.

Entertain guests and kids alike and have a blast with these simple step-by-step instructions. Check it out.

Form the Base of the Towel Elephant

Popular with certain cruise lines and hotel chains, folded towel animals have the appearance of being difficult to pull off, but they're actually easy and fun to make. Start with a standard bath towel and lay it on a flat clean surface in front of you, then fold each end over towards the middle, about 4 inches in. Make this fold again, so that the ends nearly touch in the center.

Fold the Towel Elephant Legs

Next, roll the top and bottom ends towards the middle until the two rolls meet. Fold them into an arc, and you're halfway there. You could just call it a day here, but in general, people will probably be only mildly impressed by your folded towel elephant legs.

Finish the Towel Elephant

Now take your hand towel (preferably of the same color as your bath towel) and, holding it long-ways in front of you, bite gently down on the middle. Next, roll the edges towards the middle once again, as tightly as possible, until they meet each other below your teeth. Turn the towel over and you just might see the beginnings of an elephant head.

Take the smaller end and roll it up slightly, creating the trunk, then take the top layer of towel and pull it down, creating the ears. Fluff and adjust, and place the head on your legs, and your folded towel elephant has arrived. From here, feel free to improvise.

The best part about your folded towel elephant is that he can keep a lookout while you're taking your bath, and then he magically disappears when it's time to dry off.
