Hi, I'm Kim Johnson Gross. You know there are very few women who don't have some complaint about the way their body looks. The key is finding the right clothes to make you look your best. Know the rules and experiment. Keep trying on different clothes until you find the style that makes you smile.
Using Color, Material
You can use color to bring attention to your best features. In general darker colors are more slimming, and monochromatic colors will also make you look slimmer and will also make you look taller.Next to fit the fabric of the garment is extremely important. If it's too clingy or too stiff, it's apt to be very un-flattering. So go for fabrics that that are good quality, that have a nice drape, that move easily around your body, that flow and allow you to move gracefully.
When dressing to look your best it's not about looking smaller it's about dressing in proportion. The key to looking your best is to direct attention away from your flaws and bring the eye to your positive features.
Tummy Solutions
When you have a bulging tummy, you want to detract from the middle part of your body. Stay away form tucked-in shirts, stay away from belts, stay away from front zippers on your shirts and on your pants.Wear shirts that fall just above your tummy bulge or to the top of your hip bone. And bring the eye to a more flattering part of your body. In this case, a pattern will not make you appear bigger it will detract the eye from your tummy and this v neck actually brings the eye upward more towards the neck and attention to your face. Some other distractions like a little bow or some jewelry at the top half of the body will, again take the focus away from your tummy.
Waist Size Solutions
If you have a problem waist line, whether it's short waisted, long waisted or no waist at all, obviously don't bring attention to the middle parts of your body. Don't tuck your clothes in. Don't wear belts. In this case the empire waist is very flattering because it brings the attention to the upper part of the body and gives you a long, lean look below.Another idea if you have a high waist, is to wear a hip belt. This will give the illusion of a long silhouette and the attention will go to the hips and not the waist.
Hips and Thighs
If you have large hips or thighs wear darker colors on the bottom and wear fabrics that aren't clingy or too stiff, which will only make you look bigger. Wear fabrics with very soft drape, so maybe the bottom part of the skirt, flares out softly.Derriere
Okay if you have a large derriere, avoid clingy fabrics and avoid stiff fabrics. Look for softly flowing fabrics and then bring the eye elsewhere.Chest Size Solutions
If you have an exceptionally large chest don't wear loose, baggy clothes. They'll often just hang off your chest and make you look bigger. Also avoid long necklaces, again they'll just sort of dangle down. Get a bra minimizer. There are a multitude of varieties out there and they'll just soften your large chest and give you more gentle curves. The best thing for you to do is get a fitted jacket this will emphasize your curves, elongate your neck and bring the eye up to your face.If you have a small chest, don't hide it under piles of clothing. Look for clothing that will hug your chest and show off your features, and also look for fabrics that have a little bit more texture and weight, like a ribbed tee.
Shoulders
Large shoulders are great, actually they are the slowest part of your body to show their age. So if you have broad shoulders remove shoulder pads from jackets and blouses. A V neck is always flattering you're bringing attention to this part of the body which detracts from the shoulders. And in this case even a graphic line will again draw attention away from the shoulders. For balance and proportion, consider things like a skirt that flares which gives an equal proportion to your broad shoulders and balance for your entire body.If you have small shoulders it's key to wear tops that bring the eye upward and outward to give the illusion of a broader shoulder. Anything that's off the shoulder or cut away at the neck or even v neck will accomplish that. Also insert soft shoulder pads in all your shirts and jackets. Peg your skirts and peg your pants, because , again it will create better proportion from your bottom to your top.
No matter what your body shape, you only look as good as you feel. So why not feel great in the clothes that you wear every day?
