Hi, I'm Shane Murphy, your technology guru for About.com. Today, we'll review tips for getting started and playing Webkinz online.
Getting Started With Webkinz World
Before you can get started playing Webkinz online, you'll need to both have an account and a pet code. Head to ganzestore.com first and log in to get your pet code. Click the link to add more estore points, your currency for buying pets and other products on the Ganzestore. Select your desired amount and enter your account information before proceeding. Back on the homepage, click WebKinz, then Pets and you'll be shown the different pets you can choose from to adopt and use as your online avatar. Choose carefully, then head up to your cart to checkout and confirm your order.
Use Pet Code to Enter Webkinz World
You'll find your new pet code for your adopted pet in your follow up email from the ganze estore. Keep this code handy, and head over to webkinz.com and click "New Member" to setup your account. When you get to step three, copy and paste your pet code and you'll be allowed to follow through and adopt your first pet. After seeing some initial setup screens, you'll be taken to your pet's room where you can start decorating with different furniture, dress your pet in different outfits, and take on new quests. Some of this content can be found and won in game, but you'll be constantly pressured to buy more at the estore.
Games Within Webkinz World
Most of the items you'll pick up can be placed in your pet's room or used as clothes, creating countless combinations for customizing your adopted animal and having fun in one of the different areas, such as adventure park. Explore these areas thoroughly to see everything the game has to offer. Or you can enter one of the many game rooms and take on your opponent in over a dozen mini games, many of which are similar to or identical to real games. Your meter on the left dictates your pet's happiness level and how hungry she is. Remember to consistently play with and feed her to keep her up for the many adventures you'll go on.
