Hi, I am Jon Kraft for About.com, and today I am going to show you how to teach your kids to do a soccer throw-in.

What is a Soccer Throw-In?

A throw-in is a skill in the game of soccer that is oftentimes overlooked. It is important because a good throw-in can result in a chance to score a goal.

When Does a Throw-In Occur?

First, a soccer throw-in is when a player knocks the ball out of bounds and a member of the opposing team throws the ball back into play.

Soccer Throw-In Rules

The player doing the throw-in has to use two hands, the ball has to go completely behind the head, both feet have to be on the ground and he or she has to face the field.

Throw-In Form

Let me show you. Hold the ball in front of you with two hands and make a 'W.' Bring the ball back behind your head with your hands and then push it forward onto the field.

Remember your two feet must remain stationary on the ground, or you can run up to the line, plant one foot on the ground and drag the toe of the opposite foot.

Also remember you must use both hands, the ball has to go completely behind your head and you cannot twist your body when doing a throw-in.

Now go teach your kids what you learned! Thanks for watching. To learn more visit us on the Web at About.com.
