Hi, I'm Jacob Taxis for In this video, you will receive tips for creating craft kits for kids.

Craft Kits: Choose a Container

First, select the craft kit container. The kind of container will depend on how and where you’ll be using it.

For example, tackle boxes and cosmetic cases are sturdy and small enough to be taken on trips. Large shoe boxes or smaller plastic storage bins, on the other hand, are perfect for around the house. A backpack is a great option for either the car or the playroom.

Keep in mind, however, that the size of the container will determine the maximum paper size that you are able to pack along.

Craft Kits: Decorate the Kit

When the proper container has been selected, decorate and personalize the outside of the kit. Puffy paint works best for personalizing.

Craft Kits: Gather Art Supplies

Next, gather all of the craft-making necessities. Be sure to include essentials like:

  • Scissors
  • Glue
  • Masking tape and clear tape
  • Markers
  • Crayons
  • Pencils
  • Pencil sharpener
  • Paper

To go beyond the essentials, consider including the following items:

  • Pom poms
  • Glitter
  • Stickers
  • Pipe cleaners
  • Puffy paint
  • Sequins
  • Beads
  • Thread
  • Watercolor paint
  • Brushes

Craft Kits: Organizing Supplies

It's best to have a unified method of organization when dealing with all these little items. Tiny zip-lock bags work best for easy access.

To keep the kit neat, it's best to opt for glue sticks rather than glue bottles. This will prevent glue from spilling all over the kit and ruining the other supplies.

Kids get excited when a craft kit is open. Therefore, scissors should be stored in a secure and specified place within the kit to keep them from jostling around. Velcro dots work great for this.

Craft Kits: Include Creative Challenges

When everything is stored in its proper place, add to the kit a list of creative challenges. This could be an ongoing list of drawing challenges or instructions for creating various crafts. This can help give crafters some creative inspiration before they begin.
