Transcript:How to Make a Pillow BoxHi I'm Bonnie Zaiss for About.com. Today we're going to show you how to make a custom pillow box. You can make it any size -- just start with a squared pattern.
Cut the Shape of the Pillow BoxTake a sheet of two-sided, patterned cardstock and cut it to 6 by 6 inches. Measure in 1/8" and score it using a score tool or hard plastic knife. Then fold the square in half and make sure the ends meet perfectly.
Next we're going round off the ends of the box. A CD is a great measuring tool for this project. Line it up at the center top of the rectangle. Trace the CD then trim to create curved corners at both ends.
Assemble and Decorate the Pillow BoxNow turn the CD around and score a curved shape that meets the corners of the trimmed corners -- creating an almond shape -- on all four sides to create the pocket. Now seal the 2 sides together using glue or tape along the flap and press the two sides together firmly. Then gently push in the scored curves to create the pocket.
Lastly, tie a ribbon across the width of the pocket to keep it all together. Add some embellishments like this color-coordinated flower sticker, and you're done.
