Halloween Scavenger HuntHi, my name is Christina Gavenda with About.com, today I’ll be showing you how to make a Halloween scavenger hunt.Pair Off Teams for the Scavenger Hunt
Scavenger hunts are so much fun. It’s a great way to get the kids outside and running around together. Having a scavenger hunt outside is also a great way to trick kids into exercise. You can have the kids hunt individually, in pairs or in groups such as boys against girls. For younger ones you can pair them up with an adult. It’s a good idea to have the age group of the children guide what kind of hunt you’re having.Give Kids a List of Items to Find
If your yard is large you can have a nature scavenger hunt. This is great for younger children. You can give them a written list, or if they can’t read you can give them a printed list with images on it for them to find. Some examples for your hunt are insects, leaves, pine cones or acorns. Whatever it is you have available in your yard will work. You can hide their prizes in a pile of leaves. At the end of the game, have them stand around the pile. Explain to them that they can not push, or take anyone else’s prizes, and then let them dig!Include the Halloween Theme by Hiding Scavenger Hunt Items
Another way would be to hide Halloween themed items around your yard. Some examples are candy corn, mini pumpkins, plastic spiders and vampire teeth. Keep notes so that you know where you placed them and can find them again. Again, you’ll need a list of the items so that you can let the kids know what they’re looking for. The person who gets the most things on their list wins the prize. Make sure you give everyone a prize, with the winner receiving a larger prize.Thank you so much for watching, and for more information visit us online at About.com.
