Instructions for Making Candy Corn Party Invitations
Fold an 8 1/2 by 11 inch white piece of card stock in half lengthwise. Cut the paper along the fold creating two pieces of card stock 81/2 inches by 51/2 inches. Fold each of these pieces of paper width-wise creating a blank note card. Create a template. Using a ruler, measure out from the fold 5 1/2 inches and draw a line using a pencil. Then draw a line connecting the line you drew to the fold creating a triangle.Candy corn has round edges so you need to round out the ends of the triangle. You can do this by hand with a pencil. Or, use a cap to a bottle to draw on even round edges. Using scissors, cut the paper, folded, along the drawn lines including the rounded edges. Then cut along the spine creating two triangular templates. One template will be used for the basic shape of the card. Using a pencil or pen write "template" on it.
Candy corn typically has three layers, orange white and yellow. Create these sections using the second template. Using a pencil draw a curved line 1/4 o the way up from the bottom and 1/4 of the way down from the top. After cutting along the lines you have just drawn, discard the middle section. Using a pencil or pen, sketch around the edge of the templates on the appropriate card stock. The larger portions will be cut from orange card stock while the yellow card stock will be used smaller pieces. If you are making several invitations, trace around the templates creating multiples of each piece. Trace and cut all the yellow pieces, yellow pieces and the white triangular shaped cards. Then, put them together, assembly style to save time. Using a glue stick or liquid glue, glue on the yellow and orange pieces to the card fronts. The yellow piece will go on the top and the orange piece will go on the bottom. Once dry enough to handle you can write on the cards.
Additional ideas for Candy Corn Party Invitations
For a fun decorative idea, use glitter glue to embellish the card or to write on the card. On the inside of the card, include information your guests need to know about your party such as date, time and address. You can write this information with a pen, colored pencils or markers. Use your creativity and have fun making your cards. Once the ink and glue has dried, put the invitations in envelopes and deliver or mail to your guests.
