Transcript:How to Make a Birthday Candle Party Invite
Hi, I am Chris Davis for About.com. Everyone likes a birthday party and homemade invitations add to the festivity. Here’s how to make a Birthday Candle party invitation.
To Make a Birthday Candle Party Invitation, You'll Need:
- 8 1/2 x 11 inch card stock or construction paper
- Different colored construction paper
- Pen or marker
- Glue stick
- Pair of scissors
Fold and Cut Blank Invitation Cards
Fold a piece of construction paper in half. Fold this sheet in half one more time. Unfold the last step and cut the paper in half you should have created two blank note cards. Repeat this step until you have the desired number of invitations. Trace out the shape of a candle on a piece of construction paper approximately 3 to 3 1/2” in height and 3/4 of an inch to one inch in width. Use the ruler to keep your sides straight and your height and width correct.
Cut a Candle Template
Now cut out the candle. This will serve as you template for the base of your candle. Trace this shape as many times as you need for the amount of invitations you are creating. Using orange or yellow construction paper trace the shape of a flame approximately 1” in height. Don’t worry if it’s not perfect all flames are different. Now cut out the flame. This will serve as you template for the flame of your candle. Trace this shape as many times as you need for the amount of invitations you are creating. After you have all of your candle bases and flames cut place them on a single card overlapping the the flame on top of the candle. Don’t apply glue yet. Take a few moments to decide how you want the candle to look.
Glue the Candle and Fill Out the Invitation
Once you are happy with the layout. Apply glue to the back of each piece and secure to the card. You may also opt to place multiple candles on a single invitation to signify how old the birthday boy or girl is. If you need to place several candles on a card you will want to shrink the width of the candle base and flame so that they will all fit. On the inside of the card, include information your guests need to know about your party such as date, time and address. Use your creativity and have fun making your cards. Now just place your cards in an envelope and mail. To learn more check us out on the web at About.com. Thanks for watching.
