Transcript:How to Make Reindeer Food
Hi, I'm Angela de Jong-Angelici for About.com Parenting. Leaving milk and cookies for Santa has been a long Christmas tradition. But dont forget about the reindeer. What You Need to Make Reindeer Food
To make reindeer food you will need oatmeal, glitter and small plastic bags. How to Make Reindeer Food
Give each child one cup of oat meal. Then let them mix in some glitter. They will have fun mixing in silver, gold, green, blue, red, all kinds of glitter. Now pour the mix in a small plastic bag.You can also use cheerios or other cereals in place of the oatmeal. Or try a mixed birdseed. And in place of the glitter you can use red and green sugar crystals.
What to Do with Reindeer Food
Be sure and let the kids know that the oatmeal is for the reindeer to snack on while the glitter will light the path to your home. They need to take their mix and sprinkle it on the pathway to their home on Christmas Eve.A Fun Poem to Share
It also helps if they recite this poem: Inside this special package is a treat, but not for you. It contains magical reindeer food and here is what you do. Sprinkle this magical reindeer food carefully on the ground. And tonight if you are lucky, Santa's reindeer will come around. But here is a secret I have to tell, one you must try and keep. That Santa's reindeer only come when you are fast asleep. So quickly put your jammies on and get a story read, Then sprinkle this magic treat outside and hurry off to bed.Santa's reindeer wont be able to resist stopping at your home.
