Transcript:How to Make Construction Paper Pumpkin Mask
Halloween masks are always fun to wear but they are even more fun to make. A pumpkin mask will bring out your kids creativity while producing something they can wear.To Make a Pumpkin Mask, You Will Need:
Paper PlateOrange Paint
Black and Green Construction Paper
Glue
Scissors
String or a ribbon
Set Up an Area to Paint the Pumpkin Mask
Before you get started you may want to spread out some newspapers or an old table cloth to protect your work surface. Have your children paint the entire bottom of a paper plate orange. You can use an orange paper plate, however, it won’t have that textured look that paint provides. Set the plate aside to dry.Cut Out the Jack-o-Lantern Features for the Mask
Next have your kids draw the shapes of jack-o-lantern noses and mouths on the black construction paper. Don’t worry if they aren’t perfect. All jack-o-lanterns are different. Cut out the shapes and set aside. With the green construction paper have your kids draw two leaves and a stem for the top of the pumpkin. With your dry plate cut out 2 holes for eyes near the top half of the plate. Glue the leaves to the top of the plate above the eyes then glue the nose and mouth to complete the look of the mask.Fasten a String on Both Sides of the Mask
With a pencil or scissors punch a hole on either side of the mask near the edge of the plate. I recommend that you do this step yourself so that no little hands get poked. Tie one end of the ribbon or string to one hole. Hold the mask in place and extend the ribbon to the other hole. Cut the ribbon to length and tie off.Pumpkin masks are a great project for Halloween parties or just for fun. To learn more, visit us on the web at About.com
