Hi, my name is Michelle, with About.com. Today I want to show you simple homemade Mickey and Minnie mouse costumes.

Supplies for the Ears for the Mickey and Minnie Costumes for Kids

The most iconic part of the Mickey and Minnie Mouse costumes are, of course, the Mickey and Minnie ears. The supplies you'll need are:

• Black poster board
• Cup for tracing
• Face paint is optional
• Black headbands — one plain and one feminine
• Tape or glue
• Scissors

Supplies for the Outfits for the Minnie Costume for Kids

Did you know that Minnie Mouse has over 365 outfits with matching pairs of shoes? The supplies you'll need for Minnie are:

• Any feminine outfit
• Black leggings or tights
• White gloves with three drawn-on stripes -- optional

The supplies you'll need for Mickey:

• Black T-shirt
• Red shorts
• Black leggings
• Adult-sized yellow socks
• White gloves with three drawn-on stripes -- optional
• White paper
• Scissors

The adult-sized yellow socks will easily go over a young child's shoes, keeping the outfit true to the clunky Mickey shoes.

For the shorts, simply cut out two white circles and glue onto the shorts for the iconic buttons.

Make the Ears for the Mickey and Minnie Costumes for Kids

Take your cup and trace the circle onto black paper. Add a long tab on one end of the circle to adhere to the headband. After cutting out the shape, roll the tab around the headband and tape or glue it in place.

If using tape, make sure to tape the tab to the back of the headband so it doesn't show on the front.

Supplies for Variations of the Mickey Costume for Kids

• Large piece of red felt for the cape
• Brown yarn to make the belt
• Blue, yellow and black poster board
• Scissors
• Tape

Make a Sorcerer Mickey Costume for Kids

Cut out crescent moons and stars from the yellow poster board. These will be taped or glued onto the hat. For the hat, cut a large semi-circle out of the blue poster board and rap it around into a cone. Tape or glue together. Cut slits into the sides to insert and tape the Mickey ears with tabs to attach.

For the cape, find the center of your fabric and cut a teardrop shape. This goes over the child's head and creates a V-neck. Then wrap the brown yarn around the child's waist for the belt.<

Make the Chef Mickey and Minnie Costume for Kids

What you'll need:

• Paper chef's hats
• Black poster board
• Pink poster board
• Scissors
• Tape
• Apron

Cut slits into the sides of the mesh part of the chef hat. Insert the Mickey ears with the tabs into the slits and tape down. For Chef Minnie Mouse, add a paper bow.
