Transcript: Christmas Magic Glue Ornaments

Hello! My name is Meredith Andrews from Little Shop of Crafts in New York City, here for About.com. Today we're going to be making a magic ornament. I remember making this with my mother, and it was a lot of fun to watch the different changes that it went through.

Homemade Christmas Ornament Supplies

What you'll need for this project is:
  • plastic to-go lid
  • glue that dries clear
  • glitter
  • spangles or jewels
  • scissors

Add Glitter to the Ornament Mold

The first thing you want to do is sprinkle a generous amount of glitter onto the to-go lid. Then you just want to give it a little shake to make sure that it spreads out pretty evenly.

Squeeze Glue Onto the Ornament

Now comes the fun part that the kids will love to do. You squeeze the glue over the whole entire part, this is fun because they can make designs while they're doing it. They can write their name. Basically you want to coat the whole thing with glue. Just give it a little shake to make sure it all spreads out.

Decorate the Homemade Christmas Ornament

Now you can take your jewels and pretty much place them wherever you'd like that you think would look nice. I usually go around the border. You don't have to worry too much about getting the glue on top of the jewels because the glue will dry clear.

Allow the Christmas Ornaments to Dry

Now you just want to wait, maybe put this in a sunny spot. And it will dry in about a day, then you can pop it out of the container, poke a hole in the top, and then you can string it on your tree or by the window to enjoy for years.
