Transcript:3 Movie-Themed Kid Group Costumes

Hello, I'm Ron Diamond, owner of Ronjo.com where we sell magic and costumes. Today I'm going to share a few ideas for dressing up a group of children using characters from popular movies.

Marvel Super Heroes Cosumtes

Often, it's the officially licensed characters that children are most drawn to. Here we have a group of Marvel super heroes, all stars of recent films that are popular with children. Captain America is wearing a muscle-bound costume with a face mask. While the shield makes for a great prop, I don't recommend it for small children as it is quite large and bulky. If you do splurge on buying one, be prepared to carry it yourself.

Next up we have Spiderman, wearing a full length jumpsuit and matching mask. There aren't really any props to go with the Spiderman character, so this costume is best suited for a child who will enjoy getting into character and trying out some Spider poses.

Our third super hero is Thor, god of thunder. Girls are often shut out of the super hero genre, but Thor is a great choice for a girl costume as longer hair really pulls the look off. As with Captain America's shield, Thor's hammer can be rather bulky so use your discretion if you are considering purchasing something that your child will have to carry around during a party or while trick or treating. One way to get around the expense of buying licensed characters is to creatively mix your costumes.

"Shrek" Themed Group Costumes

For a group dressed from the movie "Shrek," there's no getting around the official Shrek costume. He's so distinctive that his presence pulls off the whole group. But you can get creative by filling your group out with a more generic Donkey costume that everyone will recognize as Shrek's faithful companion. An easily-found costume such as a witch like those from Rumplestilskin's army completes the group.

"Pirates of the Caribbean" Themed Costumes

"Pirates of the Caribbean," which is a Licenced costume, can be substituted by using various other pirate costumes. This gives you the opportunity to go completely away from the licensed costumes which could save you money. You can mix and match traditional pirate looks with the more formal dress of the film's East India Company bad guys. Silver trimmed boots and a tri-cornered hat are other good choices. This salty dog carries a toy pistol and sports jolly roger hat. Finally, we have a buccaneer in a whimsical shiny dress and plastic sword like a rapier. Large hoop earrings on a older child can really complete the look.
