Transcript:3 Easy Egg Carton Crafts for Kids
Hi! I'm Kathy Moore for About.com. As parents, we are responsible for educating and enlightening our children. But sometimes you just need to break up the day with a quick and fun craft project. This program will show you how to make three instant crafts from egg cartons.Around our house we eat a lot of eggs so the empty egg cartons keep piling up. Other than recycling, there are lots if things you can do with empty egg cartons.
Egg Carton Flower Craft
One of my favorites is to make egg carton flowers. I start by cutting out individual egg cups then I have the kids paint them. Once they are dry, we poke 2 holes in the bottom of each cup and loop a green pipe cleaner through for the stem. If you make a bunch you can arrange them in a nice vase to brighten up any room.Egg Carton Bug Craft
I do not know if my son likes real bugs or craft bugs more but this egg carton caterpillar is fun and easy to make. Start with a 4 or 5 cup, long section of egg carton.Draw two eyes and a mouth on one end then have your kids dot them up with markers. Then poke two holes near the dome on the head end. Shove a pipe cleaner through from underneath to make antennae and you are all set.
Egg Carton Crazy Eye Craft
Crazy eye glasses are also a hit around our house, and they are easy to make. Just cut 2 cups from an egg carton. Then remove the bottom with a scissors or X-Acto knife. Have the kids decorate their glasses any way they wish. Then poke a pipe cleaner through each side and shape them to fit around your child's ears and you are done. The time you spend making simple crafts with your kids is quality time so get creative and have some fun.
