Transcript:Advanced Zumba Steps

Hi, I am Kristin Hawley, I am a certified Zumba fitness instructor here at Viscaria Fitness in Longmont, Colorado. I am here with today with to show you some advanced Zumba steps.

What's Zumba?

Zumba is an hour long dance fitness party, incorporating the basic latin rhythms, as well as some more advanced rhythms. Some of the songs that you may encounter in a Zumba class, will incorporate more of your entire body; where you are not just using your feet, but you are using your arms, using your core, you are putting some attitude and flavor into it.

Ideas for an Advanced Zumba Workout

We incorporated kickboxing into one of our Samba routines, its really fun and it really gets the heart pumping using all those muscles, the legs and the arms, and putting it all together. It takes a little more balance and coordination; sometime you are up on one leg and then you are kicking it out the other way.

About Zumba Workouts

Zumba is latin based fitness, but we also incorporate music from around the world: flamenco, some indian beats, and some more advanced hip-hop type moves. This routine incorporates belly-dancing and some hip-hop together; and then here's where it goes into the hip-hop. The more that you attend, the more comfortable you get to really express yourself, and I think that has a lot to do with how many calories you can expect to burn; the more you are moving your entire body, the more calories you will burn, and the more fun that you will have.

Even though some of the moves in Zumba can be a bit challenging, I just want to stress that Zumba is for everybody. Whether you are a dancer, whether you have never danced in your life. It's not about getting the moves right, it's not about being the best dancer, it's about having fun and just doing something great for yourself.
