Hi. My name's Antonio from Nimble Fitness for About.com. Today we're going to demonstrate five basic plyometric exercises you can do at home using instructions from About.com's Health site.
What Are Cardio Plyometrics Exercises?
Plyometric exercises are fast, powerful, high-impact movements that increase the force of muscle contractions. The following exercises will help you improve the function of the nervous and cardiovascular systems.
Jump Rope Is a Basic Cardio Plyometric Exercise at Home
The first one we're going to do is the basic jump rope. One of the best, most well known plyometric cardiovascular moves you can do.
Squat Thrusts Are a Basic Cardio Plyometric Exercise at Home
From there, we're going to go into squat thrusts. Adding a push-up to it just makes it that much more challenging.
Mogul Hops Are Basic Cardio Plyometric Exercises at Home
From there we're going to go into what we call mogul hops, side to side, twisting at the hips. Popping off the ground, keeping the back nice and straight. Good.SQUAT JUMPSAnd from there we're going to come up again and do squat jumps. Good. Exploding, landing soft, keeping the knees relaxed.
Prisoner Squat Jumps Are Advanced Cardio Plyometric Exercises at Home
If you want to get a little more advanced, you can go into what we call prisoner squat jumps, where you get much deeper and jump much higher. Remember to make sure you go at a pace that's comfortable for you. You can start with ten minutes and then work your way up from there.
