Hi, I'm Pamela Wicinas for About.com Home, and today I'm going to show you how to wrap a present.Put the Gift in the Box
First load the box with the gift. Take a sheet of the tissue, and crimp a fold right in the middle of it. Place it in the bottom of the box on one side, then take a second sheet and do the exact same thing for the other side. Then you take your gift and place it in the box. And gently fold the tissue in the middle. The top of the box goes on.Cut the Wrapping Paper to Fit the Box
Turn the box over upside down, and we are going to bring this end piece into approximately the middle. Bring the roll over this end so it overlaps, then I am going to cut right along the edge of the roll here.Adjust the Wrapping Paper
Now, this is fine in this direction, but in the other direction we have got too much paper. So you want at least half way up and no more than the width of the box. Same thing on the other end. And this is where we are going to cut it. I am going to cut right along here.Tape the Paper Tightly in Place
What I always do is on the top side just fold it a little bit so you have a nice, even edge. First we bring up the side here, and the trick to getting nice crisp corners is to make sure the paper is tight around the gift. Get it tight on this side, and equally tight on this side. Tape right in the middle there.Create Tight Edge Corners
And what we do is push the corner all the way to the edge, and we go right down the length of the box here till it is in the far corner, and then you crimp the paper. And do the same on the other side. Start at this edge here and fold it all the way down to the bottom edge. Then crimp the paper. Then we move back here and take it at the very bottom of the gift. Pull this edge along the bottom of the box, just like we did on the side. And crease it. On the other side do the same thing.Fold Clean Lines
Now if the edge is jagged you can fold it up like this. Then, holding this flap down, you lift it up.Finish Taping the Box
This box is kind of wide, so I am going to put tape on each of these ends. Then we do the same thing over here and, voila, nice, clean edges. Thanks for watching, and to learn more visit us on the web at homegarden.about.com.
