Transcript:How to Make a Party Evite

Hi, I'm Don Schechter for About.com Style. Today, I will show you how to create and send an Evite invitation.

What is an Evite?

Evites are free online invitations that you can send to your friends and family for an event that you are planning. You can also view all of the RSVPs for your event online. First, open your web browser, and go to evite.com.

Choose an Evite Theme

You can choose a theme for your event, such as pool party, baby shower, or guys' night. I will choose pool party. Then click on 'Create Invitation.'

In the next window, you can choose from a variety of themed templates. You can click on 'View Larger' to preview the template in more detail. If you are satisfied, click on 'Select Design.'

Create Your Own Evite Template

You can also choose to create your own template by selecting 'Design Your Own.' If you choose this option, you can select from a number of different backgrounds, main page images, accent images, and colors.

To make your selections, click on the corresponding tabs above. You will be able to view your invitation on the left side of the screen whenever you make a change to your personal design. Click on 'Finish' when you are finished with your design.

Type in the Party Details

Now, you can type in all of your events details including the event name, host name, telephone number, location name and address, date, and start time. You can also type in a message to guests in the text box below. When you are finished, go to the bottom of the page and click on 'Add Guests.'

Add Guests to the Evite

In the text box, type the email addresses of the guests you wish to invite. Then scroll down to customize the reply style. Here, you can choose what you want your replies to say. You can use the default, or click the arrow for a pull down menu where you can select another reply style. For example, I will click on 'Casual.' Now you can stylize the email message that your guests will receive by typing in the text box on the right. If you do not want to change the default message, you can leave the message as it is.

When you're finished, you can choose to 'Save for Later,' 'Preview Invite,' or 'Send Now.'

Register to Use Evite

If you are not already registered with evite.com, you will be asked to fill out a registration form. Fill in your information and click register. You will now be able to log back into evite.com to check the status of your guest list, add more guests to your event, or create another invitation.
