Hi, I’m Shane Murphy, your technology Guru for About.com. Today we’ll review how to access your Yahoo mail account in Outlook.

Install YPOPs

First you’ll have to install YPOPs and make sure it’s running.

Open Outlook and Configure Settings

Now open Outlook. At the top, click on “tools” then “account settings”. Click on the “email” tab and then click “new”. Click the “Microsoft Exchange” button and then “next”. Fill in your name, email address, and your password of choice.

Make sure you have the manually configure option box checked before clicking next. Select “Internet Email” and click next. Make sure your name and email address are correct and then type in your original email account’s user name and password at the bottom.

Select “POP3” under the account type. For both the incoming and outgoing mail server fields, type in the numbers 127.0.0.1.

Now click “more settings”, then the “outgoing servers” tab. Click the box for server authentication, and make sure the “use same settings” option is selected.

Now simply click “ok”, then “next”, then “finish” and you’re ready to check your yahoo mail with outlook.
