Hi, I’m Shane Murphy, your technology Guru for About.com. Today we’ll review how to responsibly delete your yahoo email account.Save Your Contacts
Before deleting you’ll want to take a few steps of preparation, most important of which is to save your contacts. Click on the “contacts” tab, then click the “tools” button, then “export”. Now click on the export button that corresponds to what email program you’re migrating too. Now finish the verification code process and your contacts will start downloading to a file on your desktop.Email Contacts Your New Address
It’s probably a good idea to email your contacts your new email address as well.Deleting Your Yahoo Account
When you’re ready to delete the account, you’ll need to head to edit.yahoo.com/config/delete_user. Sign in if necessary and you’ll be taken to a screen that details everything that happens after deleting your account.When you’re ready simply enter your password and the code at the bottom and click “terminate this account.”
