Transcript:How to Hem a Pair of Jeans
Hi, my name is Lily Gershon. Now let me ask you, have you ever had this particular issue? Well, here at About.com we're going to show you how to hem your jeans, because unless you are planning to put on stilts, you're going to want to know this skill.Supplies Needed to Hem Jeans
Here's what you'll need:- thread
- scissors
- marker
- measuring tape
- a sewing machine
- a pair of jeans
Measure Jeans to Desired Length
First, roll your jeans up, to match the length that you would like them to be when you are all done. That looks good. Then, you'll want to measure how much you need to take off. Turn you jeans inside out, and lay them out flat. Now using the measurement you took earlier, make a dotted line on the inside of the jeans. I would cut off the bottom part, because it might become bulky when you are sewing.
Hem the Jeans
Now roll up your jeans to the dotted line. I usually do a couple of folds to create a sturdier hold. Finally, sew your jeans closer to the dotted line.Once you've repeated the whole process for the other leg, your jeans are done and your friend can put on her dancing shoes.
Well good luck with those jeans, if you want to learn more visit us at About.com.
