Transcript:Quick Tip: How to Use the Rotate Tool in InDesign

Hi this is Andrew Hyland for About.com and this is a quick tip on how to use the rotate tool in in design.

Finding the Rotate Tool in InDesign

To locate the rotate tool it's on the left-hand side or by pressing R on the keyboard. In order to use the rotate tool you first need to select an item to rotate. We will do this by grabbing our selection tool or be on the keyboard and select our item.

Selecting the Item You Want to Rotate in Indesign

Next will go ahead and select the rotate tool from the left inside or R on the keyboard. This will give us a crosshair for our cursor which will allow us to select at what point we want to rotate our item from. We're going to select the middle as a rotate point and after you have selected a rotate point just hold down your mouse and rotate the item in whatever direction you need.

Degrees of Rotation

If you have a specific degree that you need to rotate your item you can double-click the rotate tool to open up the rotate options window.
