Transcript:How to Create a Business Card Using InDesign

Hi, I’m Herman Mak for About.com, and today I’m going to show you how to create a business card in InDesign.

Use a Business Card Template

To make a business card in InDesign, we should first set the units and measurement to "inches" since this is much easier for communicating with the majority of print shops when it comes to professional printing.

In the main menu, select "document" under create new.

We will create a 2-sided card and so input 2 in number of pages.  Unclick facing pages.  Select "US Business Card" for a quick standard template!  Put a 0.25" margin for all sides. Click OK.

Design and Save the Business Card

Drag and drop a graphic into the first page. Input the Text you need such as the name and other info by using the Type Tool. (shortcut: key T)

Drop another image on page 2 and fit the content to frame. Input a bit more text into the design.

Now that we are done with the design, click file -> Adobe PDF Preset -> High Quality Print and export the file into a PDF for the print shop to print. You may open the PDF file to preview your final work!
