Hi, I'm Heidi Dehncke-Fisher, a video journalist with About.com, and I'm going to explore a video map of the Smithsonian Institution locations in Washington, D.C.Smithsonian Museums on the National Mall
The Smithsonian Castle is located at 1000 Jefferson Drive, SW. The Castle houses helpful information on the museum, as well as a scale model of "Federal City" and other public services. The Metro Stop is Smithsonian, Mall exit.Just beyond it is the Arts and Industries building located at 900 Jefferson Drive, SW, which is closed for renovation. The African Art Museum is located at 950 Independence Avenue, SW, and is dedicated to exhibiting all forms of art native to the African continent. The Metro stop is Smithsonian, Mall exit.
The Air and Space Museum is located at 7th and Independence Avenue, SW. And highlights our experience in air and space from 1903 onward. The Metro Stop is L'Enfant Plaza, Maryland Avenue exit.
Smithsonian Museums in Downtown D.C.
The American Art Museum Portrait Gallery is located at 8th and F Streets, NW. This museum brings America to life through vivid and historical portraiture. The Metro Stop is Gallery Place-Chinatown, 9th St. exit.The American History Museum is located at 14th St. & Constitution Ave., NW. This museum profiles political, technological, social, cultural and scientific development in the US. The Metro Stop is Federal Triangle or Smithsonian, Mall exit.
The American Indian Museum, located at 4th Street & Jefferson Drive, SW, is dedicated to native art and cultural objects. The Metro Stop is L'Enfant Plaza, the Maryland Avenue exit.

The Freer Gallery is located at Jefferson Dive and 12th Street, SW,and houses an interesting collection of art, especially Asian art and the work of James McNeill Whistler. Sackler Gallery is located just south of the castle at 1050 Independence Avenue, SW, and houses permanent and temporary exhibitions of Asian art.

The Hirshhorn Museum and Sculpture Garden is located at Independence Avenue and 7th Street, SW, and houses masterful contemporary works. The National Air and Space Museum -- Steven F. Udvar Hazy Center is located at 14390 Air & Space Parkway, Chantilly, Virginia. The Anacostia Community Museum is located at 1901 4th Place, SE. This museum examines the impact of issues on urban communities. The Metro stop is Anacostia, the green line.And the National Zoological Park, located at 3001 Connecticut Avenue, NW, houses over 2000 animals and hundreds of species. The Metro stops are Woodley Park-Zoo, Adams Morgan or Cleveland Park.
