Information About Oktoberfest Celebrations in DCWhen it comes to falling short on your airline ticket to Oktoberfest in Germany, you're in luck. You can actually celebrate it right in our nation's capital, Washington, DC.
Top Five Oktoberfest Celebrations in DCHere's a list of top five Oktoberfest in the DC area, so strap on your lederhosen and grab your stein.
Number one is on the list due to the fact that it seems to have the most beers. Located in National Harbor, Maryland, the Das Best Oktoberfest is an outdoor party that features over 100 beers, schnapps, and German wines. Also on hand are plenty of Oompah bands, live music, and food to round out the celebration. Be sure to check the admission prices, which often also include some food and drinks. However, others may require that you purchase a separate ticket for drinks.
Number two is held in a town with a German heritage. Lovettesville's Oktoberfest is found in this small community in Loudoun County, Virginia. With many participating that come from a long line of Germans, you know the food at this celebration has to be out of this world. Along with the gorgefest on delicious German nibbles, there are also crafts and entertainment to enjoy while munching and drinking. All of the festivals mentioned here along with the wide range of others throughout Maryland, Virginia, and Washington, DC are typically held each year toward the end of September and throughout the month of October. Be sure to check all dates and times.
Number three is held at a Bavarian pub in Washington, DC. The Biergarten Haus Oktoberfest turns into one big party each year with 12 regular drafts on tap in addition to 11 special Oktoberfest drafts added for the event. In addition, there is plenty of food, live music, and frivolity to make this an intimate, but festive, event. Don't think that Oktoberfest celebrations are strictly for adults as traditionally this event is all about including the whole family.
Number four is based on the family factor. This one is the Oktoberfest at the Kentlands Village Green in Gaithersburg, Maryland. As one of the most family-friendly events of its kind, there are pony rides, moonbounces, face painting, games, crafts and pumpkin decorating. In addition, there is plenty of Bavarian music, food, and drinks to keep the parents amused as well.
And, because this is America and we like to super-size everything, number five on the list is one of the largest in the DC area. Held at the Frederick Fairgrounds in Frederick, Maryland, this event is huge with acres of food, drinks at a traditional Biergarten, kids' games and a carnival-like atmosphere that's fun for the whole family.
