Transcript:How to Make VinaigretteHi, Cliff Wildman here with about.com food. In this video, I'm going to show you how to make both a basic and a Dijon mustard vinaigrette.
Vinaigrette Recipe IngredientsFor this recipe, we'll need:
- 3/4 cup of salad oil; Salad oil can be anything labeled vegetable oil or salad oil. You can also use any light, neutral tasting oil like safflower, canola or soybean oil;
- 1/4 cup of white wine vinegar
- Kosher salt and freshly ground pepper
Make VinaigretteI've included a tablespoon of Dijon mustard, now this is optional. You don't have to put this in to get your basic vinaigrette. If you just want to make basic vinaigrette then you can skip this step, but since it's so easy I'm going to go ahead and show you how to make a mustard vinaigrette also. So we'll take the mustard and we're going to add the white wine vinegar and we want to mix those together thoroughly. Now, we're going to take all the ingredients in a blender and mix for about 10 seconds or until full combined. And last, transfer to a glass bowl and let stand for 30 minutes to let the flavors meld. Give the dressing a good whisk before serving. And here's what it looks like when you put it on a salad.
